The Natural Language Technologies (NLT) Team is part of the Microsoft Office Division, responsible for providing Natural Language Technologies to the Office suite of products in over 90 languages. We develop and maintain features such as the spell checkers, thesauri and grammar checkers.
We are looking for a computational linguistics intern with strong computational linguistics knowledge, machine learning and data analysis skills to help create the next wave of linguistic components to ship in future Microsoft products. You must be self-driven, product-focused and able to balance creativity with drive-for-results.

— Work in the NLT international project engineering team to scale Natural Language technology customers around the world
— Work closely with the NLT engineering and project management teams (in Dublin and Redmond) as well as linguistic vendor teams
— Execute linguistic quality assurance processes to ensure that released features maintain high linguistic standards
— Contribute to the development and evaluation of new linguistic features in multiple languages
Skills & Qualifications
— A student pursuing a degree in Linguistics/Computational Linguistics or a student of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Statistics that has a Computational Linguistics component
— Passion for Natural Language Processing
— Good communication skills, both written and verbal
— Good programming skills, with experience in C# or similar
— Ability to work independently and in a team
— Communicative, highly motivated and innovation-oriented
Desired skills, but not essential
— Fluent in a language other than English
— Experience of machine learning algorithms, data mining solutions on text data
Note: This position is open for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students that have the ability to take a break in their studies. The standard duration is 12 months.
